:: PHOTONIC MATERIALS
Photonic materials have many uses in the telecommunication and laser industries. Though still in the development stage, AlphaMicron's own photonic materials have been used to create photonic band gap materials, which, in turn, have been used to create ultra low power lasers, precision beam deflectors, phase correcting elements, and telecommunication switches.
AlphaMicron has also developed a method for combining laser beams embodied in its patented Splicing Asymmetric Reflecting Array (SARA) device. SARA combines multiple laser beams, with coherent or incoherent with respect to one another, into a single, high power output beam. SARA is wavelength and polarization independent over a large spectral range and imparts little distortion to the output beam. SARA may be constructed of linear or non-linear optical materials for uses ranging from projection systems to optical computing.
